Pope Francis and the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time

Pope Francis has established the third Sunday in Ordinary time (today) as a day devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the Word of God. He suggests that during the celebration the Scriptures are enthroned. This is something we have already begun to do when the Book of the Gospels is placed, after the proclamation of the Word, on the lectern facing the people. At our Masses this weekend we will use incense to emphasise the sacredness of God’s Holy Word.
