A public lecture by Dr Ian Mayfield will offer a brief history of the Catholic Church’s many contributions to science … including a bit about Galileo! Is the Catholic Church anti-science? Were the Middle Ages a time of scientific darkness? What really happened to Bruno and Galileo? This presentation will expose the myths and describe over 1000 years of work by priests and nuns who have made outstanding contributions to the sciences.
